I came across an article and healthy smoothie recipe from Sojourner Walker Williams (on curejoy.com) who apparently has been “singing the praises of turmeric tea for years”.

You may have tried the “immune boosting turmeric tea” we published recently? But in case you’re not familiar with turmeric, it brings restorative and preventative properties in wide ranging health benefits anyone can access.  Turmeric is a great source of curumin that is an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-tumour, antibacterial, and antiviral agent.

It certainly “ups the anti…”!

Turmeric also helps cleanse us our dietary tract of carcinogens, accelerates liver detox and can alleviate depression.

So where does this remarkable substance come from?

Turmeric is found in the root of the Curcuma longa plant (ginger family) and has a tough brown skin with a deep orange flesh. It has a peppery, warm and bitter flavor with a mild fragrance somewhat evoking orange and ginger. If you like Asian foods, you may know Turmeric as a favorite ingredient in curries, or you’ve probably seen it giving mustard its characteristic vivid yellow color.

According to Sojourner Walker Williams…

This is one of my favorite superfoods. Turmeric is an unstoppable force due to curcumin, its main active ingredient. Curcumin gives turmeric is might.

This root, which comes most popularly in the form of a spice has the power to fight two of the most devastating modern ailments- heart disease and cancer! Turmeric root has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

In studies, turmeric has been shown to be effective in treating and preventing heart disease, certain cancers, arthritis and depression.

So how about a wonderful smoothie recipe to deliver all these health benefits efficiently in a delicious “package”? Here it is on the Next Page…
