Amazingly delicious Slim-down Smoothie – Cranberry & Ginger. But there’s a bit of a story here…

Like Gail, the author of this recipe, many of us have a freezer full of fruit, ready to go into smoothies at any time of the year. You know the standards – blueberries, strawberries, acai pulp, mango, etc. But have you ever considered using cranberries in a smoothie? Gail had some in her freezer (ready for making muffins) but decided to try the cranberries in a smoothie.

Gail’s approach…

Usually I add frozen fruit to smoothies to thicken them and sweeten them, but cranberries aren’t sweet, so the challenge was on!

I wanted to replicate one of my favorite cranberry relish recipes, so I added some crystallized ginger chunks and orange zest.. And to play up the tartness I used pomegranate kefir as the base.

And the amazing Cranberry Ginger Smoothie was born. So delicious!
