Blueberries are so popular in smoothies because they pack a punch of nutrients. They have antioxidant, antifungal/antiviral, anti-inflammatory properties. They are brain-food, boosting focus and memory and slowing cognitive decline. They are great for the digestive tract as they are full of good bacteria as well as having soluble and insoluble fiber. Sounds like a winning formula to me!

The recipe comes from Julie Harrington, Registered Dietitian, at RDeliciousKitchen. You’ll find the details at the end of the post. Julie says …

… smoothies are a staple in my kitchen year round, no matter what the temperature is. Why? Because smoothies are so easy to pack in a ton of nutrition with a variety of healthy foods coming from all food groups.

Plus, smoothies are so easy to customize with various combinations, so you’ll never get bored!
